01) The Origin of MiC Style
MiC Style started as an Instagram graphic series on @michiganincolor by Yash Aprameya, featuring members of our staff.
We decided to create a website for everyone to browse MiC Style posts and feature people outside of staff. This page is meant for style inspiration and to uplift the creative community in a digital magazine-collage format.
With support from the rest of our section, we designed and prototyped the desktop and mobile breakpoints on Figma and collaborated with the Web team under the Michigan Daily for development.

02) Design Process
Using "How Might We" statements allow us to transform assumptions and insights into actions that would benefit the target users of our website. This kicks off our brainstorming process to see how we can best create design solutions to answer these questions.
01.
How might we consolidate MiC Style's Instagram posts for easier browsing?
⭐️ Repost posts on stories and consolidate into an Instagram story highlight
👗 Feature style photos on a website with filtering options for easier navigation
02.
How might we empower students of Color through style expression?
🎤 Incorporate short interview questions with each photo feature to understand what style means to students of Color.
✏️ Feature Michigan in Color columnist work on pieces written about style

03) Final Designs
visit WEBSITE!
The final design is composed of:
NAVIGATION PAGE
FIND FASHION
STYLE STORIES
CREATOR COMMUNITY
FEATURE FORM
Navigation Page
The navigation page utilizes interactive hover states and bold colors to guide users around the website.
Find Fashion
The Find Fashion page is meant to highlight individuals along with a blurb with their response to some interview questions.
Users are able to filter all of the styles by season and view individual posts. Each post links to an Instagram feature.
Style Stories
The Style Stories page features articles written by Michigan in Color columnists about fashion or personal style. When clicked on, the images open the article on the Michigan Daily website in a new window.
Creator Community
The creator community page is a spot to feature U-M students, particularly those who create their own fashion items like clothing, jewelry, and other accessories. The student's portfolio page is also linked.
Feature Form
The Feature Form allows students to nominate themselves or other people they would like to be featured on MiC Style's Instagram and website!

05) Reflections
Working with the Web & Product Design team @ Michigan Daily was a very eye-opening experience, and it was great to get feedback from product designers on the feasibility and accessibility of our designs.
I enjoyed using design to reinforce the idea that MiC Style is a space for self expression and collective inspiration!
